January 28, 2024:

Last week I finished my final edit before formatting. This week, I’m putting those edits in. I got through 9 chapters and 88 pages.

Here are the things I googled as I worked:

“comma before a which clause”

January 29, 2024:

Busy day with my kids, so I didn’t have as much time to edit. But I got through 5 more chapters and 48 more pages, bringing me to page 136.

I also migrated my newsletter to a new site, since the old was shutting down.

In writing news, Carole has been telling me a lot of her backstory lately. I really enjoy this aspect of writing.

January 30. 2024:

I lost a lot of editing time today to investigating “shined vs shone,” and I’m still not certain I understand it! But I put in the edits for 3 chapters and 24 pages, bringing my total to 160 pages.

February 1, 2024:

Only 2 chapters today and 18 pages. I’m up to 178 total. My goal for this week was 200 pages. I’m hopeful that I can put in some time on Saturday. 

Working on writing the 5th book has felt very overwhelming to me since our move and everything about our daily routine changed. But I’ve been reading what I’d already written this week before I go to bed and I’m starting to feel excited about it again.

Publishing Diminishing Progress is still the main focus now, so when I do start writing again, it will be in small increments.

February 3, 2024:

9 chapters and 64 pages done today. My total is 242 pages. That’s 40% done. 

I looked up “capitalizing northern lights” and a bunch of things about Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for my son.
